The thread of Mona Lisa, the painting, to reality might seem nonexistent because after all it is but a painting and the only thread might seem that it is based on a real life girl. But when you see it, you realize how reality is shaped on the colors of her. Maybe Leonardo Da Vinci himself didnтАЩt put this thread intentionally but what matters is that it is there and it can be seen.
The beginning of this thread starts from the glaring eyes of strangers on the picture. Like reality, where everyone knows they are being watched but not one lingering set of eyes could ever actually see the person you are, at least not until you are interpreted like Lisa. Nobody understands your worth or your value until they realize your past and learn about your creator. Like Lisa, everyone has a smile or a face on to divert others from their true self, so that no one sees you, it is better that way, or is it?
The four sided frame around Lisa is like the boundaries in our life, we cannot go past it. Mona Lisa is not Mona Lisa if there is a slight change in her, like reality, she is bound by set of rules and ideologies trying to think on our own and disregarding the rules only mean we are valued less and are not sought after.
It is funny comparing a painting to lives of people, but the irony actually begins when the comparison becomes so valid that you cannot see the painting the same way again. Many of us donтАЩt understand our own value and donтАЩt even till death, similar was the case with Mona Lisa only after she died was her painting recognized and put on a pedestal where she probably never put her own self in.
