Planned Parenthood has made another backroom deal—but this one involves the organization’s president.

On Tuesday, Planned Parenthood president Dr. Leana Wen announced on Twitter that she was being removed by the board of directors following a “secret meeting.” Dr. Wen has only been the organization’s president since September 2018.

In a letter to her colleagues, Wen went into greater detail about what exactly those “philosophical differences” were. And they’re very telling.

“I came to Planned Parenthood to run a national health care organization and to advocate for a broad range of public health policies that affect our patients’ health,” she wrote.

But it appears that the members of the board of directors don’t share Dr. Wen’s interest in patient health.

She continued: “the new Board leadership has determined that the priority of Planned Parenthood moving forward is to double down on abortion rights advocacy.”

That raises the question: Why would you want to “double down” on advocacy for something that is “3%” of your business? Could it be that abortion is and always has been Planned Parenthood’s reason for existence?

Contrary to what Dr. Wen’s letter indicates, this isn’t anything new. Planned Parenthood has always been more interested in profiting from abortions than providing real healthcare.

Planned Parenthood doesn’t care about women’s health—if it did, it would actually offer the mammograms that its supporters claim it provides. And it wouldn’t feel the need to parrot the lie about abortion only being 3% of its business when it’s the largest abortion provider in the nation.

If Planned Parenthood actually cared about women’s health, it wouldn’t cover up the sexual abuse of minors. It wouldn’t abuse the millions of dollars it receives from taxpayers. And it definitely wouldn’t sell baby body parts and then lie about it.

Planned Parenthood has always put profit first. If Dr. Wen actually wanted to focus on women’s healthcare, she came to the wrong place.
