Rt. Honorable President inaugurates ICT Center at IOE Pulchowk Campus supported by the Government of the Republic of Korea
The Right Honorable President Bidhya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Center at the Institute of Engineering (IOE) Pulchowk Campus, TU on September 25, 2016. In the ceremony, South Korean Ambassador to Nepal His Excellency Choe, Yong-Jin was present from the Korean Government side. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Honorable Education Minister Dr. Dhaniram Paudel along with various dignitaries from Korean and Nepalese governments.
The key objective of the newly established ICT center is to enhance the ICT capabilities in Nepal and improve accessibility to the quality ICT education through infrastructure and capability building support. The ICT center consists of an ICT building with well-equipped ICT facilities being operated under the management of the institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University.
The government of the Republic of Korea provided the total grant amount of US Dollar 5 million through KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) for the establishment of the ICT center in 2010.
KOICA’s strategic goal for the education sector in Nepal includes providing ICT and vocational education opportunities to Nepalese people in order to increase their productivity and income level. KOICA has been providing development assistance to Nepal for the upliftment of education, health and agriculture sector since 1991.
